School-Based Apprentices and Trainees
In reply to the Hon. J.A.W. GARDNER (Morialta—Deputy Leader of the Opposition) ((22 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee A)
The Hon. B.I. BOYER (Wright—Minister for Education, Training and Skills): I have been advised of the following:
The latest publicly available figures show that as at end of September 2021 there were 2450 school-based trainees and apprentices in training in South Australia. This is taken from the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) National Apprentice and Trainee Collection September quarter 2021.
There is not a current target in terms of a specific number of school-based apprentices and trainees across all industry sectors.
The Department for Education will continue to engage with industry, including through the South Australian Skills Commission, to determine and respond to the skills needs of South Australian businesses.
