The Hon. K.J. MAHER (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector): I have been advised:
As previously noted, one piece of legislation has already commenced. The Statutes Amendment (Child Sexual Abuse) Act 2021 passed the parliament on 1 December 2021 and was assented to by the Governor in Executive Council on 9 December 2021. It recently commenced operation on 1 June 2022.
The Civil Liability (Institutional Child Abuse Liability) Amendment Act 2021 passed the parliament on 30 November 2021 and was also assented to by the Governor in Executive Council on 9 December 2021. Further consultation on the commencement of this act has concluded and this act also commenced on 1 August 2022.
