Chief Executive Appointments
In reply to Mr COWDREY (Colton) ((21 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee A)
The Hon. K.J. MAHER (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector): I have been advised:
1. The Commissioner for Public Sector Employment (the Commissioner) provided advice to support the Premier's decision to directly appoint the chief executives for the Premier's Delivery Unit and Hydrogen Power SA. To support the Premier's decision to appoint a new Chief Executive, Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC), the commissioner directly negotiated the contract terms and remuneration with the appointee on behalf of the Premier. This was appropriate given the DPC role is the most senior public servant within the South Australian government.
2. The recruitment processes did not involve private sector recruitment consultants.
3. The recruitment was not conducted by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment.
4. There were no consultants used for the recruitment processes.
5. There were no consultants used for the recruitment processes
6. The commissioner provided remuneration advice for all roles. This advice took into consideration comparable roles, current market rates, and the remuneration of other chief executives or previous incumbents.
