Mr TELFER (Flinders) (15:04): My question is to the Minister for Planning. Does the minister intend to consult the opposition before signing off on the Brompton development, which is what he wants—

The SPEAKER: The member for Finniss is called to order! The minister has the call.
The Hon. N.D. CHAMPION: If we get to just before the caretaker period in an election year and it's a controversial deal, yes, I would come to you and ask your opinion on it. That's exactly what I would do. I certainly wouldn't sign off on it just out of the blue. It was a completely reckless decision, in my estimation, not just because it bound a future Labor government; it bound you as well, which is what I suspect the former Treasurer was trying to do.
