Essential Services Commission

In reply to Mr COWDREY (Colton) ((17 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee B)

The Hon. S.C. MULLIGHAN (Lee—Treasurer): I have been advised:

Yes. The increase in the budgeted receipts from $270,000 in 2021-22 to $1.045 million in 2022-23 is predominantly due to ESCOSA undertaking the new statutory requirement relating to the provision of advice on the appropriateness of amendments to, and revenue sources for, local council's long-term financial, infrastructure and asset management plans.

All costs, including set-up costs in the order of $473,000 in 2021-22, will be fully recovered from local councils, with invoicing beginning in 2022-23.

The ongoing cost of the program is budgeted at $768,000 per annum (indexed).
