Fleet Vehicles
In reply to Mr COWDREY (Colton) ((17 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee B)
The Hon. S.C. MULLIGHAN (Lee—Treasurer): I have been advised:
1. For the 2021-22 financial year, there were 95 expiation notices issued to drivers of government fleet vehicles for traffic offences that SAFA is aware of. By comparison, for the 2020-21 financial year, there were 128 expiation notices issued to drivers of government fleet vehicles for traffic offences that SAFA is aware of.
If a driver is pulled over by a police officer and receives and pays the fine, SAFA would not know of the incident.
2. For the 2021-22 financial year, there were 965 claims recorded above the $750 insurance deductible applied to fleet vehicles. By comparison, for the 2020-21 financial year, there were 561 claims recorded above the $750 insurance deductible.
Vehicle claim numbers were higher than usual in the 2021-22 financial year due to the hail storm which occurred in October 2021.
Note this data excludes SAPOL vehicles, as SAFA does not manage these claims.
