In reply to the Hon. S.S. MARSHALL (Dunstan) ((21 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee A)
The Hon. K.J. MAHER (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector): I have been advised:
1. The Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment (OCPSE) has engaged Tauondi Aboriginal College to support implementation of the Aboriginal Traineeship Program which includes preparing 100 Aboriginal jobseekers for employment as trainees within agencies in collaboration with OCPSE.
2. As at 30 June 2022, SAPOL currently have 76 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees or 1.3 per cent of the workforce.
SAPOL's draft Reconciliation Action Plan (not yet approved) aims to achieve 2 per cent by December 2023.
SAPOL's Diversity and Inclusion Strategy includes an aim to increase Aboriginal employment in SAPOL to at least 3 per cent by 2030.
