ReturnToWorkSA
In reply to Mr COWDREY (Colton) ((21 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee A)
The Hon. K.J. MAHER (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector): I have been advised:
In the 2020-21 financial year, the total amount of legal costs incurred by the Return to Work Scheme was $38,645,000.
Of the $38,645,000 in legal costs –
$18,090,270 is attributable to ReturnToWorkSA legal provider costs and
$20,554,730 is attributable to worker legal costs which ReturnToWorkSA is required to pay in accordance with section 106 of the Return to Work Act 2014.
The estimated legal costs for the 2022-23 financial year are produced as part of Finity's June 31, 2022 (half yearly), actuarial valuation of the Scheme. Once the actuarial valuation is approved by the ReturnToWorkSA Board, it is ReturnToWorkSA's usual practice to make the actuarial valuation public.
