Motor Accident Commission Funding
In reply to Mr WHETSTONE (Chaffey) ((22 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee B)
The Hon. J.K. SZAKACS (Cheltenham—Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services): I have been advised:
The Australian and South Australian governments originally committed $143 million, on an 80:20 basis to deliver the Rural Roads Package—Safety Package. With a safety focus, the package consisted of programs of works for shoulder sealing, improved safety on eight country roads, and implementation of nine new overtaking lanes at priority locations across the state's regional road network.
With the programs of works for the shoulder sealing and improvements to the eight country roads completed, the additional $12.5 million of funding will be directed to ensuring that all nine overtaking lanes are delivered. These include:
One overtaking lane on the Victor Harbor Road (Noarlunga to Victor Harbor Road);
Two overtaking lanes on the Augusta Highway;
Two overtaking lanes on the Lincoln Highway;
One overtaking lane on Long Valley Road (Mount Barker to Strathalbyn Road); and
Three overtaking lanes on the Riddoch Highway.
