Crown Solicitor's Office

In reply to Mr TEAGUE (Heysen) ((21 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee A)

The Hon. K.J. MAHER (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector): I have been advised:

The Crown Solicitor's Office represents the Chief Executive of the Department for Child Protection, ("the department"), in applications to the Youth Court seeking care and protection orders, applications to transfer an existing guardianship order from the chief executive to another person (usually the child's current foster parent) and applications to revoke existing guardianship or custody orders.

I am advised that the department is not charged for the legal advice and representation that is provided in relation to these child protection matters.
