Digital Access Plan
In reply to the Hon. J.A.W. GARDNER (Morialta—Deputy Leader of the Opposition) ((23 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee B)
The Hon. A. MICHAELS (Enfield—Minister for Small and Family Business, Minister for Consumer and Business Affairs, Minister for Arts):
I have been advised that representatives of key cultural heritage and art collecting organisations have collaborated to develop principles and frameworks to guide the expansion of public digital access and preservation of South Australia's cultural collections.
Funding was allocated for the development of two pilot projects: a collaborative digital access pilot, highlighting the treasures of South Australia's collections; and a pilot program focusing on digitisation skills development and training, and these initiatives are progressing adding to the digital assets of our institutions.
Also, the South Australian Museum, the History Trust of South Australia, the State Library of South Australia and the Art Gallery of South Australia have set up Collab to promote the discovery of their digital collections.
The State Library is now using Preservica, a world class, cloud-hosted active digital preservation platform, to safeguard its future stories digitally.
Funding is provided to a range of arts and culture organisations in South Australia to help them develop and deliver digital learning resources.
