Parafield Airport

In reply to the Hon. D.J. SPEIRS (Black—Leader of the Opposition) ((23 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee A)

The Hon. S.E. CLOSE (Port Adelaide—Deputy Premier, Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, Minister for Defence and Space Industries, Minister for Climate, Environment and Water):

I have been advised by the Minister for Recreation, Sport and racing that Eyre to There Aviation Pty Ltd received funding of $50,000 on 30 June 2022 to conduct electric aircraft trials to investigate noise reduction opportunities and other benefits of non-fossil fuel aircraft for Parafield Airport, Adelaide and the industry in general.

Under the trial Eyre to There Aviation Pty Ltd will undertake a series of conventional circuit flights within the Parafield Airport training airspace to evaluate community response to noise and operating parameters.

A survey of flight training participants across the sector will be undertaken to gauge how important they feel green, quiet aircraft will be to their future.

Noise monitoring comparisons will be undertaken utilising a conventional training aircraft and the electric aircraft to gather conclusive noise reduction data between the two plane types.
