State Planning Commission

In reply to Mr COWDREY (Colton) (25 June 2025). (Estimates Committee A)

The Hon. N.D. CHAMPION (Taylor—Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Minister for Housing Infrastructure, Minister for Planning): I have been advised:

As a matter of course, the Department for Housing and Urban Development evaluates all code amendment submissions to determine if a streamlined process may apply (irrespective of proponent request).

Of the 13 code amendments lodged since the introduction of the streamline process, three were determined to be eligible.

The following reasons are cited for why a code amendment proposal is not eligible for a streamlined process:

the proposal involves complex technical matters, such as character or local heritage policy;

the proposal requires complex infrastructure agreements, including known wastewater capacity constraints or significant transport constraints; and

the proposal does not align with the strategic direction of state policies.
