Homelessness Rate

In reply to Ms PRATT (Frome) ((20 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee B)

The Hon. N.F. COOK (Hurtle Vale—Minister for Human Services): I have been advised:

South Australia established five alliances in July 2021. A reduction in client numbers for Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) was recorded from July 2021, with numbers returning to historical averages by September 2021.

Month Total SHS Clients
May 2021 6,360
Jun 2021 6,532
Jul 2021 5,225
Aug 2021 6,125
Sep 2021 6,357
Oct 2021 6,543

Clients transitioning to new providers had their records closed and subsequently reopened with their new provider following appropriate client consent processes.

Further detailed reporting regarding the number of rough sleepers in Adelaide, including notes regarding data impacts as a result of the transition to the alliance model, is available from the South Australian Alliance to End Homelessness website at saaeh.org.au/progress-dashboard.
