Establishment of Adelaide University

In reply to the Hon. J.A.W. GARDNER (Morialta—Deputy Leader of the Opposition) (3 July 2023). (Estimates Committee A)

The Hon. S.E. CLOSE (Port Adelaide—Deputy Premier, Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, Minister for Defence and Space Industries, Minister for Climate, Environment and Water): I have been advised:

The Transition Plan published by the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia outlines that the universities will undertake further detailed transition and implementation planning to enable the new university to commence operations in January 2026, should the Parliament of South Australia pass legislation to that effect. This will include further engagement with university staff.

There is no further published information outside of the agreement of the universities that there will be no forced redundancies until 18 months after the commencement of the new university.
