Nuclear Powered Submarine Taskforce

In reply to Mr PATTERSON (Morphett) ((23 June 2022).). (Estimates Committee A)

The Hon. S.E. CLOSE (Port Adelaide—Deputy Premier, Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, Minister for Defence and Space Industries, Minister for Climate, Environment and Water): I have been advised:

A whole of South Australia approach will be required for the South Australian Nuclear Powered Submarine Taskforce to achieve its goals. South Australian government agencies Defence SA will likely refer to will include; Renewal SA, Department of Trade and Investment, Environment Protection Authority, Emergency Services, Department of Energy and Mining, Department of Education, Department of Industry, Innovation and Science and Department of the Premier and Cabinet. These agencies when asked will provide agency specific advice to the taskforce.

The Director Maritime, Defence SA is the taskforce's lead person and his salary and on-costs will be absorbed by Defence SA. Defence SA is responsible for resourcing of the taskforce, three FTEs have been recruited or are in the process of being recruited; Associate Director Nuclear Technology and Infrastructure, Associate Director Community Engagement and Associate Director Industry Analysis.
