Coronial Finalisations
In reply to Mr TEAGUE (Heysen—Deputy Leader of the Opposition) (24 June 2025). (Estimates Committee B)
The Hon. K.J. MAHER (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector, Special Minister of State): I have been advised of the following:
In 2024-25 the projected number of finalisations was 3,200, which was a 9.75 per cent variance compared with the 2024-25 estimated finalisations of 2,888.
The majority of finalisations are the result of the administrative processing of reportable deaths once a coronial decision has been made.
The projected finalisations for 2025-26 is based on the estimated result for 2024-25 (2,888) based on current judicial and administrative capacity.
