Sand Testing
In reply to Mr COWDREY (Colton) (19 June 2025). (Estimates Committee A)
The Hon. S.E. CLOSE (Port Adelaide—Deputy Premier, Minister for Climate, Environment and Water, Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, Minister for Workforce and Population Strategy): I have been advised of the following:
The concentration of clay within quarry sand that is placed on West Beach is prescribed by the scope of works, which is approved by the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).
Sand samples are tested by an independent accredited laboratory and results are provided to the EPA and the Department for Environment and Water (DEW). To date DEW has been satisfied with the quality of sand delivered to West Beach.
