New Women's and Children's Hospital
In reply to Mrs HURN (Schubert) (20 June 2025). (Estimates Committee B)
The Hon. C.J. PICTON (Kaurna—Minister for Health and Wellbeing): I have been advised of the following:
In late 2023, it was anticipated that construction of the New Women's and Children's Hospital car park was due to commence in the second quarter of 2024 and was scheduled for completion in early 2027.
In early 2024, a combination of temporary services and authorities work connected to the SAPOL relocation, and procurement processes through the new year period, delayed the commencement of construction.
Works on the car park commenced in September 2024 and continues to progress ahead of schedule, projecting a shorter build time than initially anticipated. The project team are working closely with Lendlease to continue to bring this timeframe earlier into 2027, noting that the completion of the new car park will have no bearing on the timeframe for the new hospital build. The scope and timing of the central energy plant (CEP) is currently in development in parallel with the concept design effort that is currently underway. A review of the design and any updates to the documentation will be undertaken by the scope 2 architect and engineers to ensure the CEP meets the demands and requirements of the hospital. The CEP construction and completion will be in line with the new hospital and will be completed by 2031.
