TAFE SA
In reply to Mr COWDREY (Colton) (23 June 2025). (Estimates Committee A)
The Hon. B.I. BOYER (Wright—Minister for Education, Training and Skills): I have been advised:
In 2025-26, TAFE SA is targeting growth of 6.4 per cent in the number of new apprentices and trainees enrolments, compared to the number of new apprentice and trainee enrolments in 2024-25. The targeted growth in areas of skills shortage is being supported through a number of measures, including the fee-free TAFE in construction program implemented by the federal and state governments in January 2025, where this cohort of students will have access to free training across critical skills for South Australia.
Financial Year | Apprentice/Trainee Headcount | % in a Priority Cohort |
FY 2018-19 | 6,921 | 84% |
FY 2019-20 | 6,826 | 86% |
FY 2020-21 | 7,771 | 84% |
