Ministerial Statement

Community Road Safety Fund

The Hon. A. PICCOLO (Light—Minister for Disabilities, Minister for Police, Minister for Correctional Services, Minister for Emergency Services, Minister for Road Safety) (11:02): I seek leave to make a ministerial statement.

Leave granted.

The Hon. A. PICCOLO: On Monday, during the estimates committee hearing for South Australia Police, I was asked how much revenue from fines and expiations would go into general government revenue. I answered the question on the assumption that the member was focused on speeding expiations, and given that assumption, my answer is correct.

However, to clarify, the budget line that the member was interrogating relates to all expiation notice revenue and, as such, not all money goes into the Community Road Safety Fund. As I undertook to do and was foreshadowed in the line of questioning arising from the committee, I will provide the member for Mitchell with details about the amount of revenue designated to the general revenue.
