City West Area
In reply to Mr TELFER (Flinders) (27 June 2023).
The Hon. J.K. SZAKACS (Cheltenham—Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services): The Attorney-General has advised:
The City West Declared Public Precinct (DPP) was first declared on 10 November 2017, and has subsequently been renewed annually.
This DPP had effect in the 'City West' precinct between 6pm each Friday and Saturday and 6am the following day.
The DPP nominally expired on Sunday 25 June 2023. A new DPP was declared over the same area and times, notice of which was published in the Government Gazette on Friday 30 June 2023. As a result, there was no change in the powers available to SA Police at relevant times.
Following extensive work with SA Police, an expanded DPP was declared by notice in the Gazette on Monday 10 July 2023. For details of that declaration, I refer the member to that day's supplementary Gazette.
