EMERGENCY ACCOMMODATION

The Hon. J.M. RANKINE (Wright—Minister for Families and Communities, Minister for Northern Suburbs, Minister for Housing, Minister for Ageing, Minister for Disability): In 2007-08, $2.259 million was expended on emergency accommodation and $13.745 million for the costs of carers. Backpackers' facilities have not been used for interim emergency accommodation.

In 2007-08, $28.76 million was expended on contracts with non-government service providers for support to foster carers, and children’s placements in small congregate care settings.
