BUDGET CARRYOVERS
In reply to various members.
The Hon. K.O. FOLEY (Port Adelaide—Deputy Premier, Treasurer, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Federal/State Relations): I am advised that all carryovers are subject to cabinet approval. Carryovers are requested where an agency has underspent on a program or project and wants to carry unused expenditure authority forward into the following or later years. Cabinet approved carryovers are listed in the attached table. Agencies may underspend in a particular year and not request a carryover. Such underspends are not included in the attached table.
It should be noted that there is not, in all cases, a one to one relationship between ministers and agencies. The agency data therefore only reflects that part of the agency that reports to the Minister.
