OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS

In reply to Mrs REDMOND (Heysen) (26 June 2008).

The Hon. M.J. ATKINSON (Croydon—Attorney-General, Minister for Justice, Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Minister for Veterans' Affairs): I have received this advice:

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) reported on workloads within the office as part of the ODPP annual report for 2006-07.

The workload statistics are derived from this report:

Average file load for general solicitors 50 files

Average file load for committal solicitors 60 files

Average file load for junior solicitors 45 files

These workloads will decrease once the additional positions in the ODPP are filled during 2008-09. The quantum of files however is not useful in any qualitative assessment of actual workload.
