THINKERS IN RESIDENCE

In reply to Mr HAMILTON-SMITH (Waite) (8 October 2010) (Estimates Committee B).

The Hon. A. KOUTSANTONIS (West Torrens—Minister for Manufacturing, Innovation and Trade, Minister for Mineral Resources and Energy, Minister for Small Business): I have been advised that Thinkers receive a stipend consisting of accommodation, flights and a payment (fees). Fees are negotiated on a case-by-case basis and are deemed commercial-in-confidence. This confidentiality is critical so that competitive negotiations can take place at the beginning of each residency.

Private industry partners are contributing $100,000 towards the cost of the 'Thinkers in Residence' program.
