HOUSING SA PROPERTIES
In reply to Mr GARDNER (Morialta) (25 June 2012).
The Hon. I.K. HUNTER (Minister for Communities and Social Inclusion, Minister for Social Housing, Minister for Disabilities, Minister for Youth, Minister for Volunteers): I am advised that it is anticipated that 793 Housing SA properties are expected to be sold during 2012-13. Whilst it is not possible to provide a breakdown of sales targets by suburb, regional areas are required to manage vacancies to ensure sales targets are met. Of the 793 sales, 570 are expected to occur in the following regions:
South Australian Government Region | Housing SA Regional Office | Target Number of Properties for Sale in 2012-13 |
Eastern Adelaide | Adelaide | 26 |
Eyre and Western | Port Lincoln | 11 |
Whyalla | 44 | |
Far North | Port Augusta | 18 |
Limestone Coast | Mount Gambier | 40 |
Murray and Mallee | Murray Bridge | 27 |
Northern Adelaide | Elizabeth | 55 |
Modbury | 64 | |
Salisbury | 61 | |
Southern Adelaide | Marion | 50 |
Noarlunga | 45 | |
Western Adelaide | Port Adelaide | 50 |
The Parks | 27 | |
Yorke and Mid North | Barossa and Gawler | 23 |
Yorke and Mid North | 29 | |
Total | 570 |
The remaining 223 dwellings are to be sold as part of the sale and reinvestment strategy for the Nation Building—Economic Stimulus Plan (NBESP). Sales are planned in the following areas:
Adelaide (89 dwellings)
Christie Downs (16 dwellings)
Findon (27 dwellings)
Lochiel Park (1 dwelling)
Noarlunga (32 dwellings)
Woodville West (58 dwellings).
In addition, Housing SA transferred ten newly constructed dwellings at Ottoway to Anglicare SA Housing Association Inc. in July 2012. These dwellings were funded under the Commonwealth Government's NBESP. This will bring the number of dwellings funded under this scheme and transferred to community housing organisations to 617 since 2009-10.
The Newbuild and Redevelopment Program (NRP) provides replacement properties for Housing SA in and around urban renewal projects or other redevelopment projects, to enable tenant relocations impacted by those projects. The provision of replacement housing is critical to achieving the objectives of Housing SA's urban renewal and redevelopment projects and enables the projects to progress.
Housing SA expects to construct 213 new dwellings in 2012-13 through the following NRP programs and projects:
Aboriginal Rental Housing Program (13 dwellings)
Better Neighbourhood Program (75 dwellings)
Community Housing Capital Program (23 dwellings)
Newbuild Program (35 dwellings)
Northway Urban Renewal Project (17 dwellings)
Playford Alive Urban Renewal Project (50 dwellings).
Housing SA has also allocated $2 million, equivalent to approximately five properties, for rental accommodation purchases in 2012-13 to assist regions meet specific client needs.
