Port Lincoln Roads

The Hon. K.J. MAHER (Attorney-General, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector): The Minister for Infrastructure and Transport has advised:

The South Australian government, in partnership with the Australian government, has committed $51.25 million for upgrades across the Eyre Peninsula road network. This commitment has been made as part of the Roads of Strategic Importance initiative.

Specifically, upgrades in and around Port Lincoln being delivered as part of the package of works include:

Projects delivered:

New southbound overtaking lane on Western Approach Road near Pine Freezers Road, including upgrade of the Pine Freezers Road junction (open to traffic July 2022).

New southbound overtaking lane on Flinders Highway from the intersection with Tod Highway (open to traffic July 2022).

New northbound overtaking lane near the town of Louth Bay (open to traffic July 2022).

Projects in planning:

Pavement renewal works on various sections of the Lincoln Highway, Porter Street and Mortlock Terrace within the main street of Port Lincoln supported by additional funding under the state government's annual asset renewal program.

Safety upgrades at four roundabouts along Liverpool Street with a focus on improving pedestrian safety and achieve desired whole-of-street outcomes.

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport has worked with the City of Port Lincoln to align intersection and town planning works with master planning for the area. Work is expected to commence on these intersections in 2023.
