FAMILY DAY CARE
In reply to Mr PISONI (Unley) (30 June 2011).
The Hon. J.W. WEATHERILL (Cheltenham—Minister for Education, Minister for Early Childhood Development, Minister for Science and Information Economy): A key factor for the increase in the 'cost per child for Family Day Care' of $304 between the 2009-10 actual and the 2010-11 Estimated Result is an 8.7 per cent reduction in estimated child numbers factored in the 2010-11 Estimated Result.
The child numbers for Family Day Care, as published in Budget paper 4, page 166, were 11,100 for the 2009-10 actual compared to 10,132 in the 2010-11 Estimated Result.
The increased 'cost per child for Family Day Care' does not reflect an increased cost that each family is required to pay.
