ROAD FATALITIES

In reply to Mr GOLDSWORTHY (Kavel) (13 October 2010).

The Hon. J.J. SNELLING (Playford—Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education, Minister for Science and Information Economy, Minister for Road Safety, Minister for Veterans' Affairs): The latest statistics quoted on 13 October, 2010, of blood alcohol levels of drivers and riders killed on South Australian roads have since been updated. The most recent data to date includes fatalities up to 30 June, 2010.

In the 12 months ending 30 June, 2010, 25 of the 73 (or 34 per cent) drivers and riders killed, who were tested for blood alcohol concentration had an illegal limit of .05 blood alcohol concentration, or above.

The blood alcohol concentration for fatalities is supplied directly from Forensic Science SA.
