AUDITOR-GENERAL'S DEPARTMENT
In reply to Mrs REDMOND (Heysen—Leader of the Opposition) (7 October 2010).
The Hon. M.D. RANN (Ramsay—Premier, Minister for Economic Development, Minister for Social Inclusion, Minister for the Arts, Minister for Sustainability and Climate Change): I have been advised the following:
The Auditor-General's Department made a loss on disposal of laptop computers of $13,000 in 2008-09 compared to the budgeted loss of $4,000. The actual result varies each year depending on a range of factors including the market for laptop computers and the timing of the upgrade and disposal of laptop computers.
The Auditor-General's Department received $10,000 in other income in 2008-09 compared to the budget of $5,000. The department has an annual budget of $5,000 per year and the actual result varies depending on the nature and size of the miscellaneous forms of other income received in a particular year. In 2008-09, other income comprised:
commissions levied on certain payroll deductions as required by Treasurer's Instruction 8
bank interest received
administrative fees recovered from employees to recover the costs of administering their personal salary sacrifice arrangements.
