AUTISM WAITING LISTS

In reply to Ms CHAPMAN (Bragg—Deputy Leader of the Opposition) (29 June 2009).

The Hon. J.M. RANKINE (Wright—Minister for Families and Communities, Minister for Northern Suburbs, Minister for Housing, Minister for Ageing, Minister for Disability): Children who require diagnostic assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorders can access these from various providers: Autism SA; private practitioners such as psychologists, speech therapists, paediatricians and psychiatrists; and via public health services such as the Child Development Units at the Women's and Children's Hospital, the Lyell McEwin Hospital and the Child Assessment Team at Flinders Medical Centre.

There is not a single waiting list for diagnostic assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorders for children and waiting times vary between services and practitioners.
