1. How many mental health beds are current operating at each of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Modbury Hospital and Noarlunga Hospital?

2. In relation to the metropolitan mental health beds commitment, how much of the $124 million of investing expenditure (Budget Paper 5, page 58) will be invested in each of the three hospitals?

3. In relation to the metropolitan mental health beds commitment, how much of the $33.8 million of operating expenditure, will be expended at each of the three hospitals?

4. How many additional mental health beds will be provided at each hospital under this commitment?

5. What type of mental health care and level of acuity will be provided in each set of mental health beds?

6. When will each set of mental health beds become operational?

7. Once this investment is fully rolled out, how many mental health beds will be operating at each of the three hospitals?

The Hon. K.J. MAHER (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector): The Minister for Health and Wellbeing has advised:

The Malinauskas government has committed to an additional 554 hospital beds including 120 mental health beds.

Our government will build and open 72 new mental health rehabilitation beds, spread across the metropolitan area with:

24 more beds at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital

24 more beds at Modbury Hospital

24 more beds at Noarlunga Hospital

This commitment builds on existing mental health beds that are reported on in reports such as the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
