Aboriginal Deaths in Custody

In reply to the Hon. N.J. CENTOFANTI (Leader of the Opposition) ().6 July 2022).

The Hon. K.J. MAHER (Attorney-General, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector):

I have been advised that: In 2017, the Australian government commissioned Deloitte Access Economics to undertake an independent review of the implementation of the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody. The report was published in August 2018 and a copy can be found at https://www.niaa.gov.au/resource-centre/indigenous-affairs/review-implementation-royal-commission-aboriginal-deaths-custody

Further, the Australian Institute of Criminology website contains the latest reporting in relation to Deaths in Custody in Australia, the latest report being 2020-21—https://www.aic.gov.au/publications/sr/sr37
