APY Lands, Child Protection

Mr MARSHALL (Dunstan—Leader of the Opposition) (14:11): My question is to the Minister for Education and Child Development. Can the minister inform the house how children on the APY lands who are at risk of abuse are being proactively monitored now that the reporting framework for the Mullighan inquiry has come to an end?

CLOSE (Port Adelaide—Minister for Education and Child Development, Minister for the Public Sector) (14:11): I can return to the house or offer a detailed briefing to the leader on the ways in which that is continuing to occur. At present, there has been, as I understand it, no diminution in the resources, despite the end of that time period. Indeed, I understand that there was, relatively recently, a very productive meeting with the leadership of the Anangu about ways in which some of those protocols will be reviewed and established, but I am, as I say, happy to have a more detailed briefing by people who have more expertise than I.
