BOTANIC GARDENS, STAFF

In reply to Mr MARSHALL (Norwood—Deputy Leader of the Opposition) (26 June 2012).

The Hon. P. CAICA (Colton—Minister for Sustainability, Environment and Conservation, Minister for Water and the River Murray, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation): I am advised:

1. The number of people who have been allocated to the Botanic Garden FTEs from Corporate Services previously in Program 2 from the 2012-13 financial year is 6.6 FTEs.

2. Staff reductions have occurred across all areas of the Botanic Gardens operations and management including administration, horticultural and collections support.

3. As per the 2012-13 Agency Statements, Botanic Gardens FTEs of 82.7 is made up Botanic Gardens staff of 76.1 FTEs and Corporate Services allocation of 6.6 FTEs.

The breakdown of the Botanic Gardens staff by functions is as follows:

(a) Staff based at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens is 50.1 FTEs.

25.1 staff are directly involved with horticultural operations.

The remaining staff are involved in the following:

4—Horticultural support;

1—Strategic projects;

3—Science;

3—Museum/library/education;

3—Communication/marketing;

1—Customer Service;

4—Garden Business Support;

2—Senior Management;

3—Externally funded projects; and

1—Parking Officer.

(b) Staff based at both Mount Lofty and/or Wittunga Hills Botanic Gardens is 26 FTEs. All staff are involved in Horticultural operations and their work location depends on workload demand, with up to 4 staff working out of Wittunga at any one time.

(c) The remaining FTEs included in the total FTE count for Botanic Gardens is the allocation 6.6 FTEs for Corporate Services.
