SURPLUS LAND SALE

In reply to Mr MARSHALL (Norwood—Deputy Leader of the Opposition) (26 June 2012).

The Hon. P. CAICA (Colton—Minister for Sustainability, Environment and Conservation, Minister for Water and the River Murray, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation): I am advised:

1. Currently there are a number of sites offered up for sale or in the process of assessment for sale. The list varies over time as sites are assessed, using a suite of criteria. So far, there are sixteen parcels being considered for sale for a total estimated sum of $6.739 million. Costs of sale will come out of this sum and the balance returned to the Department of Treasury and Finance to meet the targets set. 3. The criteria to assess crown land for sale are pertinent to the Crown Land Management Act 2009 and Premier and Cabinet Circular 114 for the Disposal of Public Land and must be declared surplus by the Minister or an approved delegate of the Minister.

The assessment process takes into account the following:

Tenure history including native title review and Crown Solicitor's advice;

Biodiversity and conservation benefits;

Ownership of any existing site assets (buildings/improvements);

Local Government Authority zoning;

Requirements for Strategic Significant Land Use Assessment;

Suitability for other government or local government agencies; and

The current market value.
