CHIEF EXECUTIVE DISCRETIONARY FUND
1 The Hon. I.F. EVANS (Davenport) (21 February 2012). With respect to the Chief Executive of each Agency reporting to the Premier, is there a Chief Executive Discretionary Fund, and if so—
(a) what is the fund's allocated budget for 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2015-16, respectively; and
(b) what are the details of all grants provided from the fund for 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11, respectively?
The Hon. J.W. WEATHERILL (Cheltenham—Premier, Minister for State Development): I have been advised of the following:
The Department of the Premier and Cabinet sets a small annual provision to manage the impact of any unanticipated payments. The amount is set at the start of the financial year based on a review of anticipated operating expenditure compared with that year's budget allocation.
The Chief Executive does not make 'grants' from this provision. Rather, this provision helps the department to remain within its approved budget allocation by providing expenditure authority 'headroom' that accommodates fluctuations in overall departmental expenditure.
A provision of $0.5 million was set at the start of 2011-12. Provisions for 2012-13 and beyond have not yet been determined.
