Question Time

Members' Conduct

The Hon. D.W. RIDGWAY (Leader of the Opposition) (14:26): I seek leave to make a brief explanation before asking you, Mr President, a question about the correct process for lodging complaints about the conduct of members of the Legislative Council.

Leave granted.

The Hon. D.W. RIDGWAY: I think it was on 13 February that an article appeared in the daily electronic newspaper InDaily that reported an exchange between you, Mr President, and the ChannelĀ 7 reporter Mr Hendrik Gout where he claims offensive and threatening language was used. My question to you, sir, is: if a member of the public believes they have been subjected to inappropriate conduct by the President of the Legislative Council, to whom should they lodge a complaint about that conduct?

The PRESIDENT (14:27): I will take that on notice and bring back an answer as soon as possible.
