Disability Advocate

The Hon. C.M. SCRIVEN (14:30): Further supplementary: why has the minister only committed to a 12-month term for Mr Caudrey as Disability Advocate?

The Hon. J.M.A. LENSINK (Minister for Human Services) (14:30): We were due to be at full scheme by 1 July 2018. I understand that the Labor Party's commitment was only for one year in itself. They had one position before the election and another entirely, having had a bill before the parliament, which was in all ways identical to the one tabled by the Liberal Party. They had some sudden change of heart after the election, where they wanted to create this new statutory role, which on my understanding, had they been in government, they would not have done. I find the positions of the Labor Party in opposition somewhat entertaining.
