MARINE PARKS

Mr PENGILLY (Finniss) (14:54): My question is also to the Minister for Environment and Conservation. Can the minister confirm that the marine parks' implementation and management will be taken from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and given to the regional natural resources management boards? The opposition has been advised that the management of marine parks is to be placed with the state's natural resources management boards which, in the future, will use marine parks as a method of revenue raising to fund their operation.

CAICA (Colton—Minister for Environment and Conservation, Minister for the River Murray, Minister for Water) (14:54): Madam Speaker, I am not being disrespectful of my friend, the member for Finniss, because I know that he got very upset yesterday and was very sensitive about some of the things that I said. We have previously ruled that out. We won't be doing it again. It is, again, asking questions that have no substance in fact to continue to promote fear, scaremongering and anxiety out there amongst the people who we want to support marine parks. Again, it is—
