Whyalla Steelworks, Job Losses

Mr PATTERSON (Morphett) (15:01): My question will be to the Treasurer in the absence of the Premier. Have any job losses occurred at the Whyalla Steelworks and, if so, how many? With your leave, sir, and that of the house, I will explain.

Mr PATTERSON: It was recently reported in The Advertiser that GFG Alliance has laid off 50 white-collar workers and has started the process of shedding about 100 jobs in the mining division.

MULLIGHAN (Lee—Treasurer, Minister for Defence and Space Industries) (15:01): That is consistent with my understanding but, if there is an update as to those figures that have been publicly reported, I will bring it back for the minister. But, yes, my understanding is that positions both in GFG corporate and also operational positions in the steelworks have been made redundant, but I will get those exact figures for the member.
