Electric Vehicles

MAHER (Leader of the Opposition) (14:23): Supplementary arising from the answer: Treasurer, as a very simple threshold question, will the new electric vehicle tax apply to only vehicles bought after the finalisation of the tax, or will it apply to anyone who has ever purchased a plug-in electric vehicle?

The Hon. R.I. LUCAS (Treasurer) (14:23): We are still working through, as I indicated, the details of the scheme. When the legislation is introduced early in the new year there will be answers to all of the detailed aspects of the proposed road user charge.
