Mr WHETSTONE: Despite a decade of concerns from the Riverland community, the minister's department, on 20 May 2024, stated: 'The department has no evidence of significant material remaining in the creek following removal of the regulator.' This week, contractors uncovered a 30 feet by 30 feet reinforced concrete slab at just 1.3 metres.

CLOSE (Port Adelaide—Deputy Premier, Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, Minister for Climate, Environment and Water, Minister for Workforce and Population Strategy) (14:41): I am a little puzzled by 'Do I stand by my advice?' and then the department's advice was read out; nonetheless, I will go to the substance of the question. It is indeed the case that a slab has been found. This was one that was looked for some years ago and not determined to be there and has now been located. The department is working very closely with the council in order to have that removed at an appropriate time.
