Bushfire Preparedness

In reference to 2016-17 Budget Paper 5, page 42—is the Minister for Emergency Services briefed by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources on the 'on-grounds works program of bushfire mitigation strategies' undertaken by the department's fire management officers and does the Minister or the Department for Emergency Services provide any direction or input to this program?

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) has been engaged at all levels of planning for the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR) on-ground bushfire mitigation works program. DEWNR and the CFS have entered into a resource sharing arrangement for the preparation of the state's bushfire management area plans which provide direction to the implementation of bushfire mitigation works.
