Heavy Vehicle Inspection Scheme
The Hon. F. PANGALLO (15:01): My question is to the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport regarding heavy vehicle compliance cheques at Regency:
1. Can the minister advise the chamber what is the average wait time for compliance inspections for heavy vehicles, and what percentage of the issues identified during inspections are safety versus non-safety issues?
2. Can the minister advise what is the justification or evidence supporting the insistence on full inspections of heavy vehicles that have been issued with a particular defect, rather than simply checking that the defective component has been appropriately repaired or replaced?
The Hon. E.S. BOURKE (Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Minister for Autism) (15:02): I thank the honourable member for his question. I am happy to look into this further. I am regularly having conversations with industry bodies like SARTA, which I am sure would also be discussing such matters that you have raised today in regard to those checks, and I am happy to continue to look into that further.
