Health Review
Mr MARSHALL (Dunstan—Leader of the Opposition) (14:17): Is the minister suggesting that the budget savings as outlined in the June budget last year will be achieved through the implementation of the Transforming Health report?
The Hon. J.J. SNELLING (Playford—Minister for Health, Minister for Mental Health and Substance Abuse, Minister for the Arts, Minister for Health Industries) (14:17): No, it won't. I wouldn't even pretend that it would necessarily even come close. When the full hit of the Abbott budget cuts hit our health system I think, if my memory serves me correctly, in the out years of the forward estimates the cuts equate to about half a billion dollars, and of course Transforming Health is not going to be able to be a solution to those massive cuts which Tony Abbott—great mate of those opposite—has inflicted upon our health system and health systems right around the country because the Liberal Party just doesn't care about hospitals.
Members interjecting:
The SPEAKER: The members for Flinders, Mount Gambier and Davenport are called to order.
