          <inserted>Population-based cancer registries use multiple sources of information to determine statewide cancer incidence in South Australia, this includes all diagnoses in public and private facilities.  </inserted>
        </text>
        <text id="2025021860c187cb349d4251a0000679">
          <inserted>Collation of these data result in a time lag to reporting to ensure high-quality data (1). In 2021, there were 1,482 new cases of breast cancer and 470 new cases of gynaecological cancer diagnosed among women in South Australia.</inserted>

          <inserted>With regard to treatment, for the 12-month period from 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024 there were:</inserted>

            <inserted>1,119 female patients admitted to SA public hospitals for breast cancer. </inserted>
          </item>
        </text>

            <inserted>1,075 female patients admitted to SA public hospitals for gynaecological cancers.</inserted>
          </item>

          <inserted>The number of patients admitted to SA public hospitals may change slightly as the data is finalised at the end of the financial year.</inserted>
