MAHER (Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector): The Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services has advised: Pursuant to section 37A of the Correctional Services Act 1982 (the act), release ordered home detention (ROHD) is a placement option within the prison system. ROHD is considered as part of sentence planning and the case review process. In relation to ROHD, a prisoner's suitability is assessed following the formulation of a prisoner's Individual development plan and consideration of their eligibility. ROHD is a provision for offenders to live and reintegrate in the community under strict supervision, with conditions of electronic monitoring at a nominated location. ROHD is at the sole discretion of the chief executive (or delegate) for Department for Correctional Services in accordance with section 37A of the act.
