          <inserted>It has been noted that there is currently a significant shortage of midwives to meet the needs of the community. </inserted>

          <inserted>In addition to the existing relocation reimbursements offered across SA Health, a number of regional local health networks are providing additional short-term incentives to attract and retain midwives in rural and regional areas. These include free accommodation and workplace programs for the care of staff and their families, such as assistance with spouse employment. </inserted>

          <inserted>SA Health anticipates that the 2024 Transition to Professional Practice Program (TPPP) recruitment campaign will generate more applications for midwifery and nursing graduate positions across South Australia, including in rural and regional areas.</inserted>
